A Couple Of Brief, Positive Notes On CARPublished: June - 2004 Finally, a couple of brief, positive notes from Central Africa.... First, it seems subscriber Tom Kunz got a big surprise on a safari to Central African Republic recently with Associated Professional Hunters of Haut Chinko, PH Rudy Lubin. Seems he was crouched in the forest waiting for his tracker's plaintive duiker calls to lure a duiker into shooting range. Instead, a large leopard showed up! Anyone who has hunted the forest in CAR knows how thick the vegetation is there and can imagine how close that leopard probably was before both parties realized a mistake had been made. Who says African hunting is not exciting!
Kunz, incidentally, gives his safari high marks and notes the area he hunted (Kapata) is one of the few where the collector can take both a western kob and a Sing Sing waterbuck. He took both animals himself, plus a western bush duiker. ........(continued) |
