"My hunting partner and I just returned from our trip to Pakistan for Himalayan ibex, and I am pleased to report that our operator did a reliable job organizing rifle and hunting permits. He picked us up at the Karachi airport, where everything went smoothly and the people were very friendly. From Karachi we continued to Islamabad, where we were informed that the flight to Skardu was cancelled. This meant we had to continue by bus.
"The trip by bus was actually very exciting, as we were able to observe a lot of the country and people. After spending the night in a motel in Skardu, we continued the next day to the hunting area in a 4wd vehicle. The ride took about eight hours. During the trip we never felt unsafe, and everybody was very friendly.
"The hunting was a big adventure, and the scenery and high, very steep mountains were just marvelous. We had about one foot of snow and a clear sky the whole week. The guides were professional mountain guides, but we could tell that they were not really experienced trophy hunters. We ended up taking two decent ibexes. Our hunt was conducted strictly on foot, and if you are thinking about going to Pakistan, you have to be prepared to shoot very long distances. Both ibexes we shot were over 400 yards away (confirmed by a range-finder).
"During our hunt we slept in a house in the village. The food was very good, and we enjoyed the foreign culture. We finished hunting after five days and returned to Lahore for a few days. Overall, we had a very nice trip, and we can recommend it to dedicated hunters who are prepared to work hard. Just be aware that you absolutely must be properly prepared for this hunt........(continued)
