We have a similarly upbeat report on a safari to Tanzania with Luke Samaras Safaris - from the US. PH Nigel Theison, sent to us by subscriber Tom Murphy. He took two cats, a 40-plus-inch buffalo, a 12-foot crocodile, a possible Rowland Ward Top 10 wildebeest and various other animals. He simply can't say enough good things about every aspect of his safari.
An Old Africa Hand, Murphy knows what a lot of first-time Tanzania hunters learn the hard way - namely, this country is rife with subcontracting PHs, and it is those subcontractors who create the lion's share of the problems you hear about every year in Tanzania. "Doing business in this country with an established company like Luke Samaras Safaris is very much to your advantage, as they have a long-term relationship with the game department," Murphy writes. "They have no problems with trophy shipments and other matters for the simple reason they are a Tanzanian-based company."
