This operation started in 1984 and has steadily built a reputation as a very dependable and quality-oriented outfit. One indicator of their professionalism is their annual brochure. While other outfitters include pictures of trophies killed many years previously in their brochures, the Bucks & Bulls folks update their four-color brochure every year, utilizing photos from the previous year only. Even so, they usually come up with a montage of great trophies few other outfits can match. One secret of their success is their determination to hunt only carefully chosen leased private ranches, where the resource has not been overly pressured. This allows them to produce consistently and, in some cases, offer hunts that do not require clients to go through the drawing process.
Although some outfitters have a specialty animal, Bucks & Bulls produces trophy-quality animals of three species: mule deer in Utah, and antelope and elk in both Utah and New Mexico. As regards mule deer, the largest buck ever taken by a Bucks & Bulls client gross-scored 210 B & C points, and another scored 198 points. Their smallest was estimated at 165 points. Year in and year out, they average in the range of 175 points on mule deer. Their average is this high because they are very selective and often pass on bucks most outfitters would never leave. As regards width, they have taken bucks that break the magic 30-inch barrier, including 33 and 34-inchers. Their widest buck ever stretched the tape to 37 1/2 inches.
