Well, in addition to owning and operating his own outfitting/guiding business, called Porcupine Creek Outfitters Limited, Sinclair has developed a hunt consulting and contracting business that has allowed him to work with a host of other outfitters. Just understand that by consulting and contracting I do not mean he has turned himself into a one-man booking agency. The difference is, he personally guides or accompanies his clients on most hunts. In the few instances where he can't, such as on a polar bear hunt, he accompanies his client into the field and assists with the hunt.
Sinclair started out guiding in the Northwest Territories back in 1980. He had hunted and trapped for most of his young life then, and simply saw guiding as a way to pursue hunting adventures on a regular basis. He says the experience proved more rewarding than he had ever imagined. "It was extremely rewarding, being in a position to make a client's dreams come true," says Sinclair. "The satisfaction of helping someone achieve a goal they'd been saving for and dreaming about was tremendous. Even if they didn't take a trophy, knowing they enjoyed a quality experience was important to me."
After several years of guiding for other outfitters, Sinclair decided to start his own business in 1980 and established Porcupine Creek Outfitters Limited in the far southwest corner of Alberta. He says he decided to go out on his own because he wanted to have more control over the physical operation and behind-the-scenes details that inevitably affect the experience a client walks away with.
