Update On ChadPublished: December - 2003 Chad: Near press time, we received a call from the irrepressible Alain Lefol, who you will remember was charged with murder in Chad this year and summarily thrown in prison. The charges stemmed from a confrontation in the field that culminated in gunfire and Lefol being hit by nomads with a spear and battle-ax. Yes, Lefol fully intends to go back to Chad this year and resume hunting. Seems he didn't just prove that he was innocent of murder; he proved that no one was murdered. That's right - no matter what you have heard to the contrary, Lefol says the only gunfire that took place that day was a series of shotgun warning shots fired into the ground near the nomads. "No one was killed. No one was even hit by a bullet," he says emphatically, noting that the courts have just ruled to that effect. Here at The Hunting Report, we are not sure how to square that with what we were told were first-hand accounts to the contrary. But, hey - the important thing is, Lefol is safe and undaunted. And ready to go back in the field. - Get in a good safari somewhere in Africa this coming year.
