"If you are interested in hunting plains game in South Africa, an operation called Frontier Africa should be at the top of your list. Frontier Africa has 23,000 acres of mountains, low ridges and valleys in the Waterberg Mountains of Limpopo Province, about three hours north of Johannesburg. Owned by Chris Van der Merwe and operated by his father Piet, Frontier Africa offers the services of Mike Cameron, a modern legend in African hunting. In all, I believe there are 23 species present.
"Second, Frontier Africa is a professionally run operation. Chris Van der Merwe has a varied background (a veterinarian, food company executive and a professional hunter), and he thoroughly understands the needs and interests of foreign clients. Mike is a professional hunter of unmatched experience in Africa today. He has over 40 years of PH work behind him, including Zambia, CAR, Tanzania, Angola, Botswana, Zimbabwe, etc. He has personally taken over 100 elephant, as well as the rest of the Big Five. Most South African PHs have not shot any of the Big Five and have never guided clients outside South Africa. Mike's experience, wit and great stories add immeasurably to the hunting experience.
