Important Travel ReminderPublished: May - 2003 Here is an important travel reminder. Next time you go to the airport don't forget about that handgun, or other firearm, in your briefcase or general-purpose travel bag. Every year, some hunters and shooters do just that and find themselves in a lot of trouble. And I do mean a lot, as attempting to bring a firearm onto a plane nowadays is what the Transportation Security Administration calls a "strict liability offense." That means you can be (and probably will be) convicted of a serious federal violation regardless of criminal intent. In other words, you can simply forget the gun is there and receive as severe a punishment as a would-be terrorist.
