Outback Outfitters is a long-time outfit in this country that provides top-flight guides with at least 15 years of guiding experience. Between them the Wicks have served as president of the Guides and Packers Association, and the Eastern Oregon Outfitters Association, as well as the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation's Outfitters Advisory Board. With this kind of experience and reputation, this outfit has been selected by a number of Governor Permit hunters who are after the biggest trophies this area has to offer. In addition to their experience in packing and quality camps, Outback Outfitters is also known for the pre-season scouting they do for clients. They can also serve experienced hunters who just want a drop camp, providing them with everything from an entire camp to a complete pack service.
As you could expect, their rates vary with what they provide. Prices are quoted per person and adjusted according to the length of one's hunt, the number of hunters in his party and the unit. For example, their fully-guided bull elk hunt is priced from $2,000 to $4,500, whereas their drop camp hunt runs from $800 to $1,500. Contact them soon to get their advice on applications. They require a 50 percent deposit, but if you are unsuccessful in the drawing, the deposit is credited to the following year, or it is refunded.
