At any rate, when the coup occurred, according to our sources, there were a total of 42 clients in the field. At this writing, we understand all but one client has been safely evacuated through Gabon. The one remaining client is an American who is voluntarily finishing up a 30-day safari with Club Faune. The plan, at this writing, is to fly him back to the capital city, Bangui, which is now calm, and from there on to Paris via Air France, which was scheduled to resume service April 6 as this issue went to press. Club Faune's Jean-Pierre Bernon said he had three French clients scheduled to arrive on that flight for regularly scheduled safaris. "The political problems seem to be over," Bernon told The Hunting Report at press time. "And the prospects for peace and improvement are good. It's just too bad this happened when it did."
