Those injunctions, you'll recall, leave a cloud of ambiguity hanging over five of the best hunting areas in the country - namely, Mumbwa, Nyampala, Mwanya, Chifunda and Upper Lupande. Sichifulo is also in turmoil, but that is a separate, far more serious matter that will almost certainly result in hunting remaining closed there this year. As for the other areas, Beatty said the "final" court date was April 4, and he was confident that the current allocation of those areas would be upheld. Let's hope so, as word reaching us is, agents here and abroad have booked those areas full for the entire season.
Here at The Hunting Report, we do not want to be pegged as worry-warts. However, we wouldn't be doing our job if we didn't warn booked clients to call their agents or outfitters after April 4 and get an update on the legal situation. We will follow this matter closely ourselves, of course, and release an E-Mail Extra bulletin as soon as the outcome is known.
