Proposed New Hunting Area In EthopiaPublished: March - 2003 The proposed new hunting area in Ethiopia is actually an old hunting area that is being brought back on line. Called Gambella, it is in the southwestern part of the country, not far from the possible new hunting area in South Sudan. The major animals here are white-eared kob, tiang, Llewel hartebeest, buffalo and reedbuck. There are also elephants in the area, but it is not clear yet whether they will be huntable.
The outfitter with a leg up on Gambella is Nassos Roussos of Ethiopian Rift Valley Safaris. Roussos has provided the plane used to do surveys of the area, and is almost sure to get at least one of the available concessions later this year. We'll keep you posted. ........(continued) |
