It is worth noting that the new Transportation Security Administration guidelines do outlaw the taking of "Parts of Guns and Firearms" into the passenger cabin. You can read this prohibition for yourself by going to the Transportation Security Administration web site. To do that, type tsa.gov on the search line of Yahoo, and then click on Transportation Security Administration. That will take you to the TSA Home Page, where you need to click on "Travelers and Consumers." The "Are You Prepared For Takeoff" feature there contains a hyperlink that will take you straight to what they call a "Permitted and Prohibited Items" list. Paid subscribers who are not Internet ready can get a copy of this important list free by fax simply by calling us. We'll also mail you a copy. A stamped, self-addressed envelope would be appreciated.
What's important here is a warning to subscribers who are still taking twist-off scopes, rifle bolts and the like with them into the passenger cabin. That is clearly a good way to complicate your next hunting departure.
