In early September, subscriber Willie George (Report
8819) hunted Alaska-Yukon moose in
British Columbia with Stan Lancaster of
Kawdy Outfitters (867-660-5025), personal guide Darren Parsons. George reports taking a 55-inch bull, but only after a prowling grizzly cost him a chance at one larger.
"Stan was going to put me on a B&C bull, but before I got to the lake a grizzly spooked him out of the area," he says. "We saw the grizzly where the bull had been as we flew out of camp. There were loads of moose, and I hunted only one lake. If you can ride, a horseback hunt might get you looks at even more moose. Unbelievable area, the most gorgeous country I've ever seen.
"Stan and his sons are passionate about hunting. They get the best guides because they're honest - sometimes brutally. They work their butts off for their hunters. They do not oversell the concession and you may well hunt an area that hasn't been touched in years......
