While making rounds at the
Dallas Safari Club Convention, I caught up with Alistair Pole of
Zambezi Hunters (
alistairpole@gmail.com) in
Zimbabwe. Zambezi Hunters hunts the Sango concession in the Save Conservancy, and Pole is very involved in the efforts there to keep forced political "partners" out of the Save and incorporate local indigenous people much the way Namibia has.
Pole says the Save has the support of Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe, who has said that indigenization efforts there should incorporate the people living there and not politicians. A cabinet committee has been established and tasked with finding a solution to the indigenization of the Save.
