Ooops! We know better, but in last month's cover story on
New Mexico Sheep, we still managed to confuse the two "sheep shows" happening in January. We caught and corrected the information in our online edition, but couldn't change the mistake before it made it into print.
To be clear: Both the youth and adult desert bighorn sheep tags for the Armendaris Ranch will be sold at the
Wild Sheep Foundation convention in Reno, January 31 - February 2, 2013. We apologize for the confusion.
In a recent email, Gray Thornton, President and CEO of WSF told us that organization will also market and sell the New Mexico Game & Fish Rocky Mountain bighorn tag and the new desert bighorn tag, as well as two Taos Pueblo bighorn tags. That's six sheep permits from New Mexico alone!
He promised they would have the entire permit and auction line-up on their website shortly, and noted that, for those not attending the convention, live/streaming online bidding will be available for all special tags and evening auctions. Go to their website (
http://www.wildsheepfoundation.org/) for complete details.
