You may have heard the sad news that prolific world hunter and longtime Hunting Report
subscriber Eduardo Gerlero passed away this past July after contracting African trypanosomiasis
, otherwise known as sleeping sickness. Gerlero had been hunting in Zambia only weeks earlier. After arriving home to Argentina, Gerlero became ill and by the time he was correctly diagnosed there was not enough time to acquire the proper medication from abroad, and he slipped into a coma and died. Now subscriber Fred Williams, who was close friends with Gerlero, tells me there is another case of a woman recently diagnosed with the same disease after visiting the Rifa area of Zimbabwe. She too had been misdiagnosed with other conditions before physicians discovered the true cause of her symptoms. Williams suggested a warning is in order to hunters heading to or returning from Africa.....
