African Sporting Gazette Inc, organizers of the African Hunting Shows in North America (and publishers of
The African Hunting Gazette) have announced some important changes to their 2013 shows. First, the name of the show has been changed from African Hunting Show to
African Hunting Expo. Also, the Calgary show has changed venues, and the Toronto show has been dropped. There will be no changes to the Atlanta show. Here are the dates and venues: Calgary - January 11-13, 2013; Coast Plaza Hotel & Conference Centre. Atlanta - February 1-2, 2013; Georgia International Convention Center.
You may remember from our previous coverage that the African Hunting Expo's regional shows allow hunters to meet African safari operators in a casual, relaxed environment to book a hunt. There are no competing events, no auctions, and no myriad of exhibitors offering anything from jerky to massage chairs. All exhibitors are required to be members in good standing of their respective professional associations, so you won't find any fly-by-nighters or sanctioned operators. The big shows certainly have their place, but if you're short on time, and only interested in getting to know your prospective safari operator one-on-one, the African Hunting Expo is geared exactly for your needs. I hope to see you in Atlanta or Calgary in 2013.
