Still in Zimbabwe, I must pass on the sad news that Owain Lewis, long-time PH with
Chifuti Safaris, was killed in the Chewore North concession of Zimbabwe by a Cape buffalo the morning of Saturday, June 9, 2012. You can read all the details in the
Email Extra Bulletin we distributed on June 12. In short, Lewis had been tracking a wounded buffalo for three days. Although the hunting party shot the animal several times, it managed to charge and gore Lewis, who, I'm told was protecting his client at the time.
