We have two glowing reports this month on a June spot-and-stalk spring black bear hunt in
British Columbia with
Fredlund Guide Service (403-638-1368). Our only previous report on outfitter Aaron Fredlund (see report
1810) came from 2000, when he was guiding for Gundahoo River Outfitters. What makes these new reports particularly unusual is that both of the hunters are from Australia.
"To go to Canada from Australia and hunt black bear is like an American going to Africa to hunt lion," says Patrick Hill. "It is an exotic trophy and a long journey; 2½ days by airplane. It took two years to plan this hunt and three to save up for it. I made certain to get the most for my dollar." Both Hill and his traveling and hunting companion
Alex Ertl have nothing but praise for Fredlund and his outfit. Says Ertl, "Excellent bear hunt, the best six days of hunting I have ever had! The territory is loaded with black bear and grizzly. Aaron is an excellent guide and gentleman, and I can't recommend him highly enough. I'd go with him for any of Canada's big game.....
