Our quick
mention last month of possible scam hunts and manipulated trophies in
Hungary and
Romania, has stirred up a real firestorm in Europe. Emails are flying, and we now have more detailed information on those hunts as well as related facts on the resolution of a similar case of trophy manipulation in
Bulgaria. More information is coming in daily.
Apparently, a number of individuals and organizations have vested interests in hunting that region and in controlling the flow of information (positive and negative) around this story. We are, of course, digging deeper into the matter, collecting information from every credible source in preparation for a follow-up story. As always, our goal is to present you, our subscriber, with the clearest possible picture, so you can decide for yourself whether a particular hunting opportunity is right for you.
With that in mind, we would like to invite any subscriber who has hunted in Central Europe but has not filed a
Hunt Report on the experience to please do so. First-hand reports from our subscribers are our "gold standard" for information. We know from past reports that there are many good agents and outfitters operating in this part of the world. But it's also increasingly clear that not all hunts are being conducted ethically, with the outfitter delivering what has been promised. If you've had an experience, good or bad, please share it with us and your fellow subscribers. It will help us present the clearest possible picture on what's really happening in this corner of the hunting world. Thank you. -
