Australia, be aware of several requirements for hunters traveling with firearms. It seems that in addition to an import permit to enter the country with a hunting firearm and a temporary license just to use a firearm, Australia also requires an export permit allowing you to leave with your firearm. Here's how the whole import/export process was explained by outfitter Andrew Webster of
Kingham Safaris Australia:
"International hunters coming to Australia need a temporary license (a Visitors' License) to use a firearm. The police department of the state where you are hunting will issue the permit to use a firearm. If you are bringing your own weapon, you will also receive a license to import a firearm. This license needs to be applied for well in advance of arrival, one to two months preferably, to allow the police time to process applications and return them to you.....
