Continuing subscribers will remember a controversy from an Aoudad hunt in
Texas (Hunt Report 7855), published in our October 2010 issue (see page 19), with a rebuttal from the outfitter and booking agent published in November 2010 (page 15). Subscriber R. Saunders had a number of complaints about the hunt, with one of the main ones being the outfitter had passed his hunt off to a second outfitter, Wayne Wiemers of Alamito Hunting and Guide Service in Marfa, Texas. Wiemers responded to the complaint in our January, 2011 issue (page 18). Now, occasional correspondent Mel Toponce checks in with a first-hand positive report on Wiemers' operation:
"Last February, two companions and I hunted javelina in Texas using simple, wood longbows and, for two of us, wood arrows fletched with natural turkey feathers. The three of us bagged four javelina in 2½-days. We hunted with Wayne Wiemers and found him to be easygoing, down-to-earth and ready to go the extra mile.....
