We don't often hear about elk hunting in West Texas. The last time, in fact, was in a 2009 report (Article ID: 2310 in our Email Extra database) by Lew Miller, who reminded us that elk in the Lone Star State aren't even considered a game animal! They can be hunted any time, including, as Italian subscriber Mario Nobili tells us here, on either side of the big hunting conventions.
"I booked this hunt after a few e-mail contacts with Malcolm Calaway, the owner of the Boot Ranch, located about 25 miles north of Alpine.
