Congratulations are in order for subscriber Henry McNatt, III, who won the 2011 Carlo Caldesi Award for a monstrous mountain nyala he killed in Ethiopia last year with Nassos Roussos of Ethiopian Rift Valley Safaris. The nyala ranked Number Two in the SCI record book with a score of 106 5/8.
You'll recall from our previous coverage that the Carlo Caldesi Award honors the best big game trophy of the year. Entries are judged on the difficulty of the hunt, the availability of the species and its score. The Carlo Caldesi Award was created by the Caldesi Family of Milan, Italy, in memory of Carlo Caldesi, who has the distinction of being the only Italian hunter to win the prestigious Weatherby Hunting and Conservation Award (1981), the SCI Hall of Fame Award (1983) and the SCI International Hunting Award (1987).....
