Subscriber Ken Harrison has checked in on a hunt in Switzerland last October for alpine ibex and chamois with outfitter Cazatur. Harrison has hunted with Cazatur before and says they have tremendous connections and know their game. "They are an attention-to-detail kind of company," he says. "They always meet you at the airport, and there's never a problem with paperwork or gun permits. I've never had a problem getting trophies back."
Cazatur applied for the game permits when Harrison booked the hunt and let him know when they finally had them, about a year later. Based in Spain, the outfitter arranged for a local guide for this public land hunt in the Swiss Alps near St. Maurice-en-Valais in southwestern Switzerland. Told to expect an average 300-yard shot, Harrison suggests sighting in for 300-400 yards. "We drove as far as we could in the vehicle and then we started climbing, spotting and stalking," he says. "There was lots of steep hiking up to 10-12,000 feet, and it took a few days to acclimate.....
