Hunters who had written off Geneva Park Outfitters in Colorado might want to reconsider. Seems a new day has dawned for this outfit under new ownership. You’ll recall in 2010 (see Article IDs 2403 and 2472) Geneva Park Outfitters’ founder Terry R. Sandmeier lost his Colorado Guide Registration for his part in the 2007 illegal archery kill of a bighorn ram. However, in March, 2010, Terry L. Sandmeier, son of the founder, took over operations of Geneva Park Outfitters and guided all of the company’s 2010 sheep and goat hunters himself. The new owner tells us, “Geneva Park Outfitters has been specializing in bighorn sheep, mountain goats and wilderness hunts for elk and deer for 23 years. As the new owner of the outfit, I am dedicated to providing the best in backcountry hunts while giving exemplary service to our clients.”
Corroborating the new Sandemier’s claims, subscriber Paul E. Fabian has filed a very positive report on a sheep hunt in September, 2010. Fabian writes:
“I hunted sheep in units S23 and S27, which were combined by the Colorado Division of Wildlife due to a recent reduction in sheep populations. Only two licenses were issued for these two units in 2010.....
