The first reports on hunting in Argentina this season have arrived in our offices. First up is an enthusiastic report on a place we told you about last October, namely La Mota Hunting Ranch, operated by Caza Pampa. That report described reasonably-priced hunts for free-range red stags. Well, subscriber David Giangano gave La Mota a try after reading about it in these pages. “I wanted to hunt free-range red stag during the roar without paying exorbitant fees for taking a large trophy animal,” he says. He hunted La Mota this past March and took both a 6 x 6 stag and a wild boar with his bow.
Giangano reports seeing numerous gold medal stags. “It was an unforgettable experience, glassing from stands or listening to the roars, then stalking to within bow range,” he says. “The hair on the back of my neck stood up as the roars of the stags rose around me with the morning sun.” Over the week he hunted, Giangano says he had daily opportunities to stalk trophy stags.....
