Last October we told you about an operator bringing back big game hunting opportunities in Belize. Occasional correspondent Tom McIntyre filed the report on David Hill of Maya Kingdom. On offer were tropical whitetail deer, red brocket deer, white-lipped peccary, ocellated turkey and feral water buffalo. Hill advertised his offerings in The Hunting Report through his US booking agent Wild World Adventures, and several subscribers booked with them. The first to report back is Dick Fruchey, who took his wife and three adult sons on a six-day hunt for white-lipped peccary and red brocket deer, with Central American whitetail deer possible. The Frucheys left after only two days.
Start-up operations in a newly opened destination can usually expect to encounter some hiccups, so we’re not surprised to hear that all did not go smoothly with Hill’s first hunts. Fruchey filed a critical letter-length report detailing what he did not like about the hunt and the services provided. The original report and the subsequent rebuttal and re-rebuttal are too long to print in full, so we are summarizing here and will make the entire file available for free (by e-mail or fax) to any current Hunting Report subscriber.
