Official notice from Tajikistan lifting the moratorium on Marco Polo sheep hunting arrived at the offices of US Fish & Wildlife Service (USF&W) in mid-September along with a list of approved US hunters for the 2010/2011 season. Subscribers following Editor Barbara Crown on Twitter (www.twitter.com) and those signed up for Email Extra received the news the same day as The Hunting Report and have already seen the letter and list of hunters from the Tajikistan Committee on Environment Conservation, which we posted on our web site under Website Uploads.
You’ll recall we first reported that a sheep survey conducted last fall/winter found such healthy populations of Marco Polo argali that the president of Tajikistan verbally announced the reopening of sheep hunting there.....
