Subscriber Ralph DiMeo sent us a gentle reminder that our report on Northeast moose hunting opportunities in the January issue (see pages 6-8) so focused on the needs of trophy hunters that we missed a couple of critical details for people more interested in the hunt than the antlers. He writes, “Perhaps I missed it, but I think the article omitted an important piece of information: The moose permits in all three New England states are two-person permits. Each tag entitles two people to hunt together, and either person may kill the moose. This buddy system enhances the hunt and effectively doubles your chances of getting a tag if your buddy also applies. Another point: It is my impression that hunters willing to accept an antlerless tag can greatly improve their chances.....
