A new record-book scandal has erupted involving a high-profile hunter. First, it was Kirt Darner, you’ll recall, who fell from prominence as a mule deer guru when all of his B & C entries were withdrawn after questions about one of them surfaced. Now, for different reasons, a similar situation has occurred with David Miller, the acclaimed Coues deer expert and maker of custom rifles. I congratulated Miller in my March 2001 column, when he managed to get nine Coues deer recognized by Boone & Crockett, edging out former top dog, George Parker, who had eight bucks in the B & C book – seven bucks he took himself, plus one pick-up. The buck that put Miller in the lead was a Chihuahua buck he killed in 2000.
Well, it turns out that one of Miller’s earlier bucks had to be removed from the Boone and Crocket Record Book because....
