an interesting boots-on-the-ground report from Kentucky. In Report
subscriber G. Stanek says he bowhunted for whitetail deer in western
Kentucky early this Sept. with Snipe Creek Lodge (www.snipecreeklodge.com
Stanek reports, "All deer
appeared very healthy. I saw an amazing number of mature bucks. The
outfitter has over 60 farms available with quality ladder stands on all,
and you can change stands if necessary." The bucks he was hunting were
still in velvet, and Stanek says that at one point he had five mature
bucks within 50 yards of the blind at the same time. He shot his
nine-point whitetail at 30 yards.
hunters were given the option to return to the lodge for lunch, Stanek
hunted all day. He recommends bringing light ScentLok clothing for warm
weather and a Thermacell for this hunt.
Accommodations were in a converted farmhouse; lodging, food and guiding were all excellent, according to Stanek....
