It's with great sadness that The Hunting Report
must report the passing of PH, safari operator and Old Africa Hand George Angelides. He died of natural causes this past Aug. Longtime subscribers know Angelides from his operations in Tanzania and Sudan and his efforts to reopen Democratic Republic of Congo (formerly Zaire, also called Congo-Kinshasa).
Angelides was born Sept. 8, 1945, in Oldeani, Tanzania. He received his professional hunting license in 1968 and began hunting Tanzania and Kenya under his own company, George Angelides Safaris. He also operated in southern Sudan with Nile Safaris during the Tanzania hunting ban in the 1970s. When the hunting ban ended in 1981, Angelides was among the first operators to return and ran hunts there for many years as Tanzania Safaris Ltd., with many Hunting Report
subscribers among his clients....
