"I'm not angry, just very disappointed," is how subscriber L. Metzger (Report 10920
) describes his reaction to a May 2016 brown bear hunt with Butch King's Wildman Lodge on the Alaska
Peninsula. "Butch King has a good reputation among Houston Safari Club members, and I was told there were plenty of 10-foot bears. I was disappointed in the lack of quality bears, the number of hunters (when I flew in on the charter, three or four other hunters got off the plane and three or four got on to fly out), and a poor guide. The weather was pleasant and comfortable for the AK Peninsula, facilities were comfortable, the food was good, but there were no bears. I'd estimate a success rate of less than 50%. I don't remember my guide's name, but he told me he was a fishing guide, not normally a hunting guide. His arrogance made for a long 10-day hunt."
