Lechwe are still available for hunters in Zambia.

Hunters recently contacted members of PHAZ (Professional Hunters Association of Zambia) to ask about a news report from Ghana stating that Zambia had banned lechwe hunting. PHAZ contacted the Zambia Department of National Parks and Wildlife (DNPW), however, and found that no such ban was in place. PH Gavin Robinson of PHAZ sent us DNPW's reply:
"Both resident and safari hunters can still hunt [black and Kafue] lechwe, and the only change is a slight reduction in the quota for Kafue lechwe."The News Ghana report
) cited a politician, Southern Province Minister Edify Hamukale, who expressed a wish to institute a temporary ban on hunting of Kafue lechwe to the Times of Zambia
. Apparently Hamukale had seen a 2015 survey report by the DNPW stating that the population declined from more than 250,000 in the 1930s to 28,000 today....
