Still on the subject of recommendable wolf hunts, subscriber B. Milner (Report 10851
) tells us it took only three hunting days to get a wolf with Ray Lawrence of Timber Ridge Outdoor Adventures (780-723-2548) in Alberta
, Canada, this past Jan.
"Unfortunately, I had business commitments and could hunt only one day after I took the only wolf I saw. With another couple of days (Ray normally schedules his hunts for seven days) I'm certain I could have taken a second wolf. We heard them howling in the vicinity.
"Ray is a wolf expert! I learned a tremendous amount from him. He maintains several bait sites baited with cow carcasses from a local feed lot or farm. We hunted two of his bait sites and would have tried a third if I hadn't had to leave. The wolves here are not nocturnal; they come to the bait at any time of day. His blinds are heated and comfortable. He is great company in the blind....
