Subscriber G. Morris won a free three-month extension to his Hunting Report
subscription when his report (10850
) was drawn from among all the reports submitted in April. He highly recommends his March wolf hunt in British Columbia with Domenic Ferrarelli of Flathead Wilderness Adventures (250-423-1528; firstname.lastname@example.org
). Morris previously hunted with Ferrarelli; see Report 10746
about his successful 2016 mountain lion hunt, which was booked through Troy Ginn at International Outdoor Consultants (www.trophyhunt.com
"I originally wasn't going to submit this report because I didn't get a wolf," Morris told us in a phone conversation. "But this was my second hunt with Domenic and he did a great job on both hunts, so I decided to file it. It wasn't Domenic's fault that I didn't get a wolf. He has a good area with a good history of success and did everything he could."
Morris says the reason for his lack of success was unfavorable weather. "The area had much higher snowfall than usual this year. Normally he has about a foot of snow, but we had two feet when I arrived and got another foot while I was there. We intended to hunt bobcat and lynx as well as wolf, but there was just too much snow for the hounds to tree the small cats. We knew that there were wolves in the area; we were hunting over bait. We saw whitetails running from something and we were pretty sure wolves had made a kill of their own somewhere in the area....
