Fair warning - the 80,000-acre Royal Deeside Estate in the highlands of northern Scotland does not have medal-class roe deer because of its location in the highlands, miles from the nutrient-rich lowlands where agriculture is present. But then getting a medal-class animal is not the reason one tries to get a chance to hunt this exclusive property. The whole point here is to enjoy the elegant environment and the host of activities open to non-hunting spouses.
Seems Michael Grosse of International Adventures Unlimited (Tel. 970-641-5369. Web: www.internation aladventures.us) has established a very special relationship with Deeside’s head game keeper, who has gotten him access from the family who owns the estate. The hunting here is simply not open to the general public. Nor is it promoted openly. The access Grosse is allowed here allows him to bring about a dozen carefully selected hunters on the property each spring.
