By Mike Bodenchuk, North American EditorNorth American Editor Mike Bodenchuk checks in this month with a new outfitter delivering personalized hunts in Hawaii. Here's his report:
I've hunted a number of times in Hawaii, all on the Big Island. Last month I took my wife to Hawaii and took her on a guided feral goat hunt with Nahele Outfitters (http://www.naheleoutfitters.com/
; 808-936-4674). Nahele is the Hawaiian word for forest, and outfitter Mike Vitousek takes pride in not only providing a quality hunting experience, but in protecting the forest through the management of introduced animals.

One reason I opted to hunt with Nahele Outfitters was that Vitousek was fairly flexible on the dates for this hunt. The day we had originally scheduled to hunt was overcast and rainy, and Vitousek called me and offered to reschedule when conditions were better. It turned out this was not only prudent, but almost a necessity for the area we hunted. Some of the other outfitters I had contacted only had one day open and not having an option to reschedule would have been problematic......
