subscribers interested in hunting the Alaska Peninsula for possible record-book brown bears now have more options to consider. The National Park Service (NPS) recently awarded exclusive hunting guide rights for two concessions within the Katmai National Park and Preserve: the Moraine Guide Area and the Sugarloaf Guide Area. The Moraine Guide Area will go to outfitter Don Willis, operator of Alaska's Extreme Hunting
(253-740-3201), who currently guides in the Kamishak Bay Area of Alaska's GMU 9. The Sugarloaf Guide Area will be operated by outfitter Cabot Pitts, who currently guides for Henry Tiffany of Alaskan Perimeter Expeditions in the Izembek National Wildlife Refuge on the Alaska Peninsula. Pitts has created a new company, Alaska Wild Wind Adventures
) to provide guide services on the concession. Both outfitters plan to focus exclusively on brown bear hunting, taking five or fewer clients per year.
