Last month I told you that several operators had pulled out of Central African Republic
due to the sectarian violence that erupted there in December and caused the UN to unanimously approve the intervention of French forces. One of the operators I had not heard from was Erik Mararv of Central African Wildlife Adventures
. After going to press I received an email from him informing me that he had just returned from the bush where he was hunting with subscriber Brook Minx.
"We had a very hard hunt due to late rains and a late eland rut, and he did not get his eland. We had an opportunity at a medium-sized bull on the first day but decided not to take it. Then we just had lots of bad luck and hard hunting. We were on eland every day but never connected. We had an opportunity on just about every other species we hunt (including yellow-backed duiker), but Brook had already taken those with us on a previous hunt.....
