Hunters looking for a Botswana-quality elephant should take a closer look at border areas where elephant from Botswana migrate. That includes Namibia's
Caprivi area, such as Bwabwata National Park, where, I hear, the Namibian Ministry of Environment (MET) has just auctioned the hunting concession in the Mahango National Park section of Bwabwata. Peter Thormahlen of Thormahlen and Cochran Safaris Namibia
was awarded the area.
This concession was previously hunted by Boet Nel of Boet Nel Hunting Safaris, but in 2010 he apparently lost it over a disagreement with the concession community and MET. Before that happened he had reported seeing 70-pound jumbos in the concession as well as sable over 44 inches, 58-inch kudu, roan over 26 inches, 40-plus-inch buffalo and 11-inch warthogs.....
