Subscriber Tim Fallon has weighed in with an assessment on a safari to Benin, over in West Africa. He and his hunting partner, well-known hunting television personality Larry Weishuhn, hunted Benin
this past April with Safaris Chelet
, booking agent Patty Curnutte of Global Sportsman
(830-755-9191). Fallon took a western savannah buffalo and western roan, which he reports were plentiful and healthy. He also shot what he says is a "monster" harnessed bushbuck. He did not get an opportunity for kob or waterbuck, although they saw some. He did not see any lion, although he did see some tracks and says it was just too hot and too late in the season to pursue them. Weishuhn shot what Fallon says is a good buffalo on day three and had multiple opportunities for roan the first few days of the hunt. He passed on them to let Fallon shoot his animals first. The last six days of the hunt, Fallon says they tried to get Weishuhn on a roan that was not on the run and simply ran out of time.....
