You may recall my January 2012 coverage on the change of hands in Mozambique's Coutada 10 (see Article 2776
). This area borders the southwestern end of Marromeu National Park and runs to the coastline, encompassing more than 1,000 square miles of varied terrain, including miombo forests and flood plains. I reported that the area had been taken over by Marromeu Safaris
under the direction of Paul Ferreira of Askari Safaris (firstname.lastname@example.org
). Coutada 10 was the area where Gert Saaiman of Saaiman Hunting Safaris hunted for many years. He lost the area after a fallout between the concession owners, and Marromeu picked up the tender in late 2011. They were just finishing their second season when I received a report from Eric Schell of Safari Outfitter
s (307-587-5596). Schell hunted Coutada 10 this past August for Cape buffalo, crocodile and some plains game. Safari Outfitters is representing Marromeu, but, lacking follow-up reports from hunters, I checked in with Schell to ask what hunters going to this area should expect these days.....
