Soon after going to press last month I heard from subscriber Jerry Brossia on his Tanzania
safari with Zahir Mulla in the Kimisi Game Reserve. You'll recall I shared a report (9233
) with you in the September issue
from the first hunter to go into Kimisi, Emery Reynolds, who hunted the first nine days of July. He reported rather tough conditions due to a lot of poaching, and says that while he saw a number of big dagga boys in the 40-plus range, he was unable to connect on any despite hunting hard for nine days. Well, Brossia had much better luck, taking a total of 14 animals, including three big Cape buffalo. They measured 47
Kimisi is bordered by Rwanda to the west and Burigi Game Reserve to the east. Brossia says the area has a system of lakes, rivers, ridges and broad valleys, offering a variety of habitat. The ridges are 300-500 meters (984-1640 feet) above the valley floors and are covered with grass and acacia shrubs.....
