You may have seen all the recent hoopla in the national media about not one but two
record-breaking alligators in Mississippi
, caught within an hour of each other on the opening day of the state's alligator season. The first weighed 721 pounds, the second topped out at 727 pounds and measured 13 feet 4.5 inches. That record didn't stand long, either, though the third state record apparently didn't count as news on the national scene. According to a Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks (MDWFP) press release, Lee Turner of Madison, MS harvested a 741-pound male 'gator measuring 13 feet 6.5 inches on September 8.....
