Let's face it, none of us are getting any younger and many, if not most of us aren't in the kind of physical condition we'd like to be in. That's why two recent subscriber reports really caught our eye. Both are from hunters with serious physical limitations who still managed to have good hunts with recommendable outfitters and bring home notable trophies.
First up is Bob Keagy's report (
9013) on a November mountain goat hunt in
Alaska with Jimmie Rosenbruch's
Glacier Guides (907-321-2180) on a boat-based hunt out of Gustavus. Keagy tells us candidly that he was 68 years old at the time of the hunt, with limited mobility, and still managed to kill a
27 2/8 SCI goat on an entirely fair-chase hunt. Keagy worked with personal guide Zach Decker on this hunt. "Glacier Guides was aware that my mobility was poor, as I was awaiting a knee replacement. They managed, nonetheless, to put me on a trophy goat the very first day!" he says.
Keagy calls this "an excellent hunt in a beautiful area with abundant goats in prime condition. Absolutely the best goat hunt I am aware of. Totally fair chase in gorgeous country." He rates the outfitter's offerings as excellent across the board......
