Outfitter Critique: This Wyoming Guide Knows The Elk Hangouts Better Than The Elk Do

Subscriber Al Pate hunted elk in Wyoming with Rough Country Outfitters & Guides this past October and in his filed hunt report (8929) had the following to say about the outfit and personal guide Quinn Hiser:
"I can't say enough about the guide, Quinn Hiser, and the first class operation that Jim Schell runs. The hunter and the hunter's success are clearly at the center of what they do. My guide, Quinn Hiser, was born on the ranch we hunted and has lived there his entire life. He knows more about that ranch than any elk living on it. In addition, he has a sixth sense for where the elk are and, in most cases, where they will be. During my hunt, a major storm front moved in, bringing sustained record high winds. Despite this, Hiser knew the ranch so well he anticipated the elk movements. Sure enough, he put me in a perfect spot to intercept a big bull, and on the afternoon of the third day, I took a very nice 6x6 300-plus elk.
"I highly recommend this hunt/outfitter and guide. This was a very good hunting experience. By all means, ask for Quinn Hiser as your guide. I owe it to him that I now have these memories and a very nice rack on the wall."
Postscript: We have one other report (5166) in our database on Rough Country Outfitters & Guides. Subscriber James Boles hunted with them in 2005 and took a 6x6 bull elk. He gives them an all-excellent rating.
